Tottenham and Liverpool set for transfer tussle over Bundesliga star
Marko Marin could be set for a Premier League tug of war after two of England's Champions League entrants expressed an interest in bringing him to these shores.

The Werder Bremen playmaker – who has ben dubbed the 'German Messi' – has stepped out of the shadow of Mesut Ozil since the latter moved to Real Madrid in the summer. While his performances have been a little inconsistent in the Bundesliga this season, that has been largely due to the poor performance of the team as a whole - they currently sit eleventh in the table.
However, one match in which the 21-year-old did shine was the Champions League match against Tottenham at the Weserstadion in September in which he scored and proved a constant menace. This, together with three goals in the German league, have prompted Spurs to enquire about his services. The money for any transfer would be provided by the potential sales of Niko Kranjcar and David Bentley who are both struggling to get first team opportunities at White Hart Lane.
But they can expect competition from Liverpool who are in the market for a winger-cum-playmaker. Whether they will splash out in January is another matter but if they can secure a fee of around £12m then they may well strike early.
Marin, himself, is understood to be happy at Bremen for the time being though a summer move is likely should the German club fail to qualify for Europe.
